2 Ingredients 2 Yummy

The “Fast & Furious” franchise is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I have seen all of the movies, most in theaters and most more than once.

They are just ridiculous feats of action mayhem.

To go along with the franchise name, you can make this soy chorizo queso dip very quickly (five minutes or less) and the chorizo gives it a little kick, or a “furious” taste.

This recipe is vegetarian and gluten-free. According to suggested serving sizes, you should get at least 6 servings out of this. But I’m not going to judge you if you eat this by yourself or with one lucky friend or family member.

Ingredients
1 12-ounce package soy chorizo
1 10-ounce package queso fresco

Instructions
Remove the soy chorizo from its packaging and place it in a large, microwave-safe bowl. Break it up so it isn’t in sausage form.

Place the queso on top and microwave it for two minutes.

After the two minutes pass, stir the softened up cheese so it mixes in with the chorizo. Microwave in additional increments of 30 seconds until the queso is soft enough to be thoroughly mixed with the chorizo.

Eat on its own or serve with your favorite chips. For the pictured version, we had tortilla chips and vegetable pulp chips.

The Easy Route
Buy some pre-made queso from the grocery store or order a warm bowl of queso for delivery or takeout.

The Pairing
I do believe it is best if you watch the “Fast & Furious” movies in order. That being said, I also don’t think it’s 100% necessary.

My favorite in the franchise is the sixth movie, simply titled “Fast & Furious 6.” It brings a beloved character back from the dead and it’s the last film that fully features Paul Walker before his untimely death. (He died in the middle of filming “Furious 7.”)

It also is an important part of what makes the later movies so much fun: the strong ensemble cast.

The earlier films relied pretty heavily on the one or two lead characters, whereas the last few movies give you some character development with this globe-trotting crew of criminals turned good guys (and gals).

And the villains and partners just keep getting better, too, from Jason Statham and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren.

The stunts become more and more outlandish and perplexing, too. There’s a notable submarine scene in the eighth movie (“The Fate of the Furious”), and a couple characters go to space in “F9.”

If you’re looking for a little escapism and an easy, warm bowl of comfort food, this is the pairing for you.
