“M3gan 2.0” (2025)
This follow up to the 2022 fan-favorite horror film “M3gan” ditches a most of the horror and goes for straight-up sci-fi action film, making it honestly seem like “M3gan: Impossible.”

I knew from the trailers that “M3gan 2.0” would likely be a course reversal, taking this terrifying doll companion robot and turning her into an Avenger.
When a potentially more dangerous AI robot, Amelia, is put into the world by the U.S. government, it would seem that rebooting M3gan is the only way to stop Amelia’s evil plot.
While I am not the world’s biggest horror fan, I will admit I was a little bit disappointed in this course correction. “M3gan 2.0” stacks on different levels of bad guys while M3gan gets to do her best Tom Cruise-level stunts, making this sequel feel more like a “Mission: Impossible” movie than a horror sequel.
In fact, both of this year’s entries in these franchises involve the dangers of AI and a mysterious vault.
With “M3gan 2.0,” I saw some of the twists coming a mile away. The plot may be thin, but the one-liners delivered by M3gan are a lot of fun, along with the banter she shares with Gemma (Allison Williams).
I had some fun with this sequel, but it was a blatant way of taking what maybe should’ve been a one-and-done horror film and stretching it to turn it into a franchise. There is now a lot more ground that could be covered in a third film and beyond.
I also don’t think you’ll get much out of this sequel if you haven’t seen the original.
