Batwings

Two of our favorite superhero shows, “Batwoman” and “Naomi,” were canceled too soon by The CW earlier this year.

We already had blog posts scheduled for both, so “Naomi” will be coming soon.

Today, we are pairing our beloved “Batwoman” with some vegan buffalo wings. This recipe makes 3 “servings.”

Ingredients
6 tablespoons vegan buffalo sauce of your choice
3 servings of the vegan chik’n of your choice, breaded or not
6 tablespoons vegan bleu cheese dressing (for dipping)

Instructions
At least four hours before you plan on eating your wings, put them in a container (i.e. resealable bag or food storage container) that can be tightly sealed. We had these for lunch so I actually marinated them the night before.

Add your buffalo sauce, seal the container and shake it for a couple minutes. Then put the container in the fridge until you’re ready to fry them (at least four hours).

We used frozen breaded chicken tenders and pulled them out of the freezer, added the marinade then put them in the fridge to thaw while they absorbed the flavor.

For our sauce, we used a buffalo vinaigrette. Our breaded tenders perfectly absorbed this light and flavorful sauce.

When you’re ready to make the wings, preheat your air fryer for 3 minutes at 390°F.

Put the wings in the air fryer with tongs and fry them for 5 minutes at 390°F.

Serve them with the bleu cheese dressing and enjoy!

The Easy Route
Order some vegan buffalo wings from the food establishment of your choice. They can be hot and fresh or you can find a box of frozen ones to heat up.

The Pairing
“Batwoman” does a great job of taking a character who’s been in a supporting role in previous superhero entertainment and giving them the spotlight.

Taking place in Gotham after the mysterious disappearance of Batman/Bruce Wayne, his cousin Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) discovers the Batcave and Bruce’s secret identity. She also befriends Lucius Fox’s son, Luke (Camrus Johnson), who becomes her partner in bringing Batwoman to life.

The cast is filled out by Dougray Scott, who plays Jacob Kane, Kate’s father and leader of Gotham’s private police force, the Crows; Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton, Kate’s stepsister; Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore, Jacob Kane’s right hand and a former flame of Kate’s; and Rachel Skarsten, who plays the illusive villain Alice.

The ensemble is terrific, and the supporting players provide some consistency as the role of Batwoman shifts to Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) in the second season.

Both Rose and Leslie were great choices for Batwoman. We highly recommend checking this very underrated show out.
