Hot Dish
“Watch What Happens Live” features a lot of dishing on the latest Bravo scandals, so I had to come up with a breakfast hotdish recipe for this latest Breakfast with Bravo pairing!
This vegan, gluten-free recipe makes approximately 6 “servings.”
Ingredients
14 ounces vegan, gluten-free sausage
8.8 ounces vegan, gluten-free egg replacer powder (or whatever is equivalent to 15 eggs)
12 ounces vegan cheese
approximately 12 ounces gluten-free potato crowns (however many fit on top of your egg mixture)
Instructions
Grease a 9×13″ baking dish and preheat your oven to 350°F.
Brown your sausage in a frying pan with the cooking oil of your choice.
Transform the egg replacer powder into liquid eggs per the packaging instructions.
Most of these egg replacer powders include seasonings like salt, pepper and/or garlic powder. If they don’t, add some to your taste. For all four of our ingredients, they came pre-seasoned. If yours don’t, please do add at least some salt and pepper to make your dish more flavorful.
Once your liquid eggs are assembled, stir in the cheese and the cooked sausage. We used a cheese sauce, you could also use shredded cheese.
Pour that into your baking pan and smooth it out as needed so it is level.
Arrange the frozen potato crowns on top of the egg, cheese and sausage mixture.
Carefully place in the oven and bake at 350°F for about 40 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the potato crowns are crispy and golden brown.
Cut into squares and serve. Enjoy with an episode of “Watch What Happens Live!”
The Easy Route
You might be able to find some precooked vegan sausage or sausage that can be quickly heated in the microwave instead of going through the process to brown sausage in a pan.
You could also get a bottle of liquid vegan eggs to make that part easier.
If you know of a brand or restaurant that makes vegan, gluten-free breakfast hotdish, please share those details in the comments.
The Pairing
If you love watching Bravo, there’s no better show to watch than Bravo producer Andy Cohen’s talk show “Watch What Happens Live.”
There are exclusive interviews with Bravolebrities (short for Bravo-specific celebrities) and unseen clips from your favorite shows, along with a ton of fun talk show moments with big name stars like Regina King or Jennifer Lopez, just to name a couple.
I’ll admit I haven’t seen every episode of “WWHL.” My Bravo fandom is pretty much limited to “Top Chef,” “Project Runway,” “The Real Housewives of New York City,” “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” and “Inside the Actors Studio.”
Mostly, I watch the episodes with cast members from these shows and any big celebrities who I’m a fan of or have a project coming up that I’m interested in checking out.
A lot of talk shows these days also go into games or skits with their guests, and “WWHL” is no different.
And I love watching Andy, a fellow St. Louis native, host. He is really good at getting his guests to spill the tea, along with the help of the bountiful bar they have on set, which makes this talk show stand out from the rest, in my opinion.
