Magical Mozzarella Pizza
I love the “magical” vegan liquid pizza mozzarella that’s entered the market, and I knew I wanted to pair it with a magic-themed show or movie. “Practical Magic” was what I landed on.
This vegan recipe makes 2 personal-size pizzas or 2-4 “servings.” If you use gluten-free crusts and gluten-free toppings, this recipe can also be gluten-free.
Ingredients
2 small vegan pizza crusts
1 cup vegan pizza, pasta or tomato sauce
1 cup liquid vegan pizza mozzarella
toppings of your choice
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 450°F.
Prep your pizza crusts as needed. We rolled our homemade dough balls out after letting them sit for a bit. When rolling out, we were sure to build a little bit of an edge around the crust so the toppings don’t spill out.
Place each crust on a piece of parchment.
Put half of the tomato sauce on each crust, followed by half of the liquid mozzarella.
Top with the toppings of your choice. We used vegan pepperoni, green peppers, green onions, kalamata olives and pepperoncini.
Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 450°F, or until the liquid cheese has solidified.
Slice and serve with “Practical Magic!”
The Easy Route
Using premade crusts instead of making your own is the easiest step for this particular recipe, as this particular cheese is not available on frozen pizzas, and in order to fully do the “magic trick,” you really need to pour the cheese yourself instead of ordering a pizza for delivery or takeout.
The Pairing
I watched the 1998 witchy romantic thriller “Practical Magic” a lot as a kid, and it has gained quite the cult following on social media.
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman play sisters Sally and Gillian (respectively), who come from a long line of Massachusetts witches.
Their line is cursed, with the men in their lives, including their father, dying young, mostly in freak accidents.
As kids, they wind up living with their aunts, Frances (Stockard Channing) and Jet (Dianne Wiest), who have fully embraced the witchy lifestyle.
Both Sally and Gillian tempt fate with their romances, and things come to a head for both of them as Sally has found happiness with a husband (Mark Feuerstein) and kids (Evan Rachel Wood and Alexandra Artrip), while Gillian has found herself in a dangerous relationship with Jimmy (Goran Visnjic).
To me, this is an iconic Sandra Bullock role and just a glimpse of what Nicole Kidman would be capable of in the 26 years that have passed since “Practical Magic” came out.
If you’re looking for some witchy thrills and swoony romcom moments, I recommend checking out “Practical Magic” this month.
