Must-See Mojitos

I wanted a quick and easy cocktail recipe to pair with the Emmys, so I went for a mojito!

This vegan, gluten-free and soy-free recipe makes 1 drink, but you can easily multiply it to make a whole pitcher.

Ingredients
1 cup crushed ice
1 shot rum
1 can mojito- or lime-flavored seltzer water
1 tablespoon lime juice
2-3 large sprigs of mint

Instructions
Put the crushed ice in a tall glass.

Pour the rum, seltzer and lime juice over the top of the ice and stir. (If you want to make a mocktail, just skip the rum.)

Place the mint sprigs in your glass, shoving them down as needed with your stirring spoon.

Serve, sip and enjoy with the Emmys!

The Easy Route
You can probably find premade mojito mix at your local liquor or grocery store. You might even be able to find the full cocktail in a larger bottle or single-serve cans.

In both of these instances, you will probably still need to add the crushed ice and mint.

The Pairing
Much like the Oscars, the Emmys have become must-see live TV for me, especially with the high-quality shows hitting the airwaves and streaming services over the last 20 or so years.

They are a way to celebrate the best of television and call attention to shows that might be underseen.

This year’s crop of nominees boasts a lot of my favorites, including “Reservation Dogs,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “Abbott Elementary,” “Ripley,” “Top Chef,” “The Bear,” “Loot,” “Hacks” and “What We Do in the Shadows.”

What I am perhaps most excited for this year, though, is the hosts: father and son Eugene and Dan Levy will be co-hosting! As a mega fan of “Schitt’s Creek,” this on-screen reunion is one of my most anticipated watches of the fall.

I will be live posting about the Emmys on Threads, starting with the red carpet at 5 p.m. (Central) on Sunday, September 15. Please join in with your comments, sharing the shows you’re rooting for this year.
