Neo Noir Noodles
Just like “Out of Sight” is a fresh take on the noir genre, this mashup of pasta and spinach artichoke dip is a fun way to bring two comfort food classics together.
This vegan, gluten-free recipe makes 4 “servings.”
Ingredients
8 ounces vegan, gluten-free penne
12 ounces vegan chicken (make sure it’s also gluten-free)
1 7-ounce tub vegan spinach artichoke dip
2 cups fresh spinach (optional)
1 12-ounce jar artichoke hearts, drained (optional)
Instructions
Cook the pasta according to the packaging instructions. We used penne, but you can really use any similar-sized shape of pasta.

While the pasta is cooking, add the chicken and dip to a pan over medium high heat.
Stir until they’re combined and well heated, which should line up nicely with the timing for your pasta.

Strain the pasta and stir it into the chicken dip mixture until it’s all evenly combined. This is also the point when I stirred in the extra spinach and artichoke hearts if you’re looking for more depth to the spinach artichoke flavor.
Serve and enjoy with “Out of Sight!”
The Easy Route
You could use premade pasta or maybe use a premade vegan chicken spinach artichoke dip if you can find one, but otherwise, this is a pretty easy recipe as is.

The Pairing
“Out of Sight” is one of my favorite movies that sadly doesn’t get talked about much in the pantheon of neo noir, film noir or, honestly, film in general.
As a kid, George Clooney was one of my first on-screen crushes after glimpsing him playing a pediatrician on “ER.” But my love for him was immortalized after early repeat viewings of “Out of Sight,” which came out when I was 12.

Clooney plays career criminal Jack Foley in filmmaker Steven Soderbergh’s adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s novel.
In one of her first and best roles, Jennifer Lopez stars opposite Clooney as Karen Sisco, a U.S. Marshal who always finds herself falling for the wrong man.

In “Out of Sight,” two wrongs make a right when these two meet and their chemistry throws them both off-kilter, making for a mesmerizing love story that is 1 part romcom, 1 part classic noir and 1 part thriller.
On top of spectacular star-making turns from Clooney and Lopez, there is incredibly strong supporting work from Ving Rhames, Steve Zahn, Albert Brooks and Don Cheadle.

This film paved the way for Clooney and Soderbergh’s continued ventures, most notably the “Ocean’s” series that started in 2001. While I love that series, “Out of Sight” by and far exceeds those beloved crime capers.
If you’re looking for a stylish, sexy neo noir to watch for Valentine’s Day, Noirvember or any other time of the year, “Out of Sight” is the movie for you.
