“Eternity” (2025)

“Eternity” is a moving story about love and what makes a great partner. Plus, it’s funny.

Elizabeth Olsen stars as Joan, who finds herself dead and forced to pick between an eternity with her husband of 60+ years, Larry (Miles Teller) and her first husband, Luke (Callum Turner), who died young.

While some of the plot feels a little contrived or stuck in the weeds, I still loved how the talented ensemble brings this original story to life. Joining the love triangle are Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Anna and John Early as Ryan, two eternity coordinators assigned to help Larry and Joan (respectively) navigate their choices for how to spend their afterlife.

While Olsen, Teller and Turner bring a lot of the drama, Randolph and Early bring a lot of the laughs.

The world building alone and attention to detail are enough to make me deeply appreciate “Eternity,” but it is honestly one of the best romcoms (with a little dram) of the year.

“Eternity” takes a lot of twists and turns that also make it one of the more original stories to grace the big screen this year.

I need more romcoms in my theatrical experiences, so I really urge you to check this out in theaters as alternative programming to this season’s sequel-heavy releases.
