“The Monkey” (2025)
I knew “The Monkey” was going to be very different from “Longlegs,” but in addition to plot and tone, “The Monkey” is a truly disappointing follow up from filmmaker Osgood Perkins.

The film delivers on its marketing promises of being bloody and having a lot of death, but it doesn’t do much more.
A plethora of creative kills are strung together by a thin plot surrounding a toy monkey that somehow has the power to twist fate and kill people nearby.
At the center of the story are twins Hal and Bill, shown in their childhood (both played by Christian Convery) and adulthood (both played by Theo James).
James does the best he can with this thin plot, but I do get the feeling this should have remained a short story instead of attempting to expand it into a feature-length film.
If you are a fan of horror movies with creative kills, you will probably love “The Monkey.” While I do get some entertainment out of that, I also like my horror films to have better developed plots.
