“You, Me & Tuscany” (2026)

In an era filled with horror, animated movies and auteur-driven dramas, seeing a romantic comedy pop up on the big screen is increasingly becoming a rarity.

Is “You, Me & Tuscany” a great romcom? No. But it is one of the only romcoms to hit the big screen in recent memory and for the foreseeable future.

I have definitely gone on my romcom rant before, but it’s still true: I want more big-screen romcoms, not less.

Romcom rant aside, “You, Me & Tuscany” is a joyous romp starring two charismatic leads. What more could you ask for in a romcom?

Halle Bailey stars as Anna, a culinary school dropout who is trying to figure out what to do with her life. When she comes across the opportunity to go to Italy and stay at a Tuscan villa, she takes advantage of it, maxing out her credit cards and spending all the money she has.

Romance also comes into play as she finds herself falling for a local, Michael, played by none other than “Bridgerton” star Regé-Jean Page. (Side note: If this and “Black Bag” are what he left “Bridgerton” to do, he is making a lot of great choices.)

Between the swoon-worthy romcom moments and the culinary experiences that fill the movie’s plot, this movie succeeded in making me want to go back to Italy.

Some of the subplots don’t work and some of the plot contrivances seem super stretchy, even for a romcom, but “You, Me & Tuscany” is still a fun time at the movies. And I think that’s just what we need as an escape right now.
