In honor of Syttende Mai (Norwegian Constitution Day on May 17), I’m pairing one of my favorite modern Scandinavian shows, “Hilda,” with a lunch that involves a Norwegian delicacy: lefse.
While I know the lead character in “Drive My Car” would not approve of car snacks, it occurred to me that the contained nature of the trending snackle boxes might be a good compromise.
When I saw that April is National Soft Pretzel Month, I instantly knew what pairing I had to do to celebrate: “The Office.”
Jack Lemmon’s character famously strains spaghetti using a tennis racket in “The Apartment,” so I knew that’s what I had to make for this pairing.
I knew I wanted to pair some kind of twisted food with “Twister,” so I went with one of my favorites: cinnamon sugar twisted donuts.
I knew I had to do a dessert pairing with “Queen Sugar” given the show’s title and the plot revolving around a family’s sugar cane farm.
I knew as soon as I glimpsed snacking cakes in “Bridgerton,” I had to make that my pairing.
“A Warm December” has a pivotal scene involving ice cream, and I also wanted to have a dessert that called back to the film’s title. So for the pairing, I chose caramel apple pie ice cream!
I chose a French toast bake to pair with “The Family Stone” because there is a pivotal scene in the movie involving a breakfast bake and a kitchen disaster.
It is widely debated whether or not “Die Hard” is a Christmas movie. I have decided it is an unconventional Christmas movie just so I can name one of my favorite Christmas cocktails after Bruce Willis’s iconic line in the film.
