Tater tots are a staple of cafeteria food, so I thought tater tot hotdish would be a great pairing for one of my favorite high school shows, “Freaks and Geeks.” Our rendition is vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free.
If you watch “Ted Lasso,” you know that the titular character brings in biscuits for his boss every day. For the pairing, we decided to make a vegan, gluten-free and low FODMAP version of them.
One scene involving my favorite character in filmmaker Nancy Meyers’ 2007 rom com “The Holiday” features a Hanukkah dinner, so I decided to make latkes for this pairing.
There are a lot of great “Friends” food moments to choose from, but one of the most memorable is the inedible trifle Rachel makes for Thanksgiving one year when she accidentally combines two very different recipes. These single-serve savory trifles are much more edible than the dish Rachel serves her friends.
One of the main characters in “Resident Alien” is a bartender, and, especially in the first season, a lot of scenes take place in the bar where she works. So I figured this apple jack cocktail recipe would make a great pairing for the show.
When “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” came out last year, I was putting the pieces together of what I wanted Veg Out to be. I made my first recipe video when I made the first attempt at these chia crispy treats.
“Bend It Like Beckham” came out in my teenage years, and it’s one of those movies that I watched over and over again. There’s a memorable line in the movie: “Anyone can cook aloo gobi, but who can bend a ball like Beckham?”
Given Matt Damon’s now iconic line in “Good Will Hunting,” I knew I had to make something with apples for the pairing. Taking into account the movie’s dramatic nature, I went with a crumble.
I love a good coming-of-age movie, and “Reality Bites” hits all the right notes of mid-1990s nostalgia. I chose the 4 different toppings for these mini polenta pizzas to represent the movie’s four main characters.
“Always Be My Maybe” is one of my newer favorites, in large part because one of the main characters is a chef and restaurateur. I made teriyaki chickpea bao based on a scene involving the two main characters and some coveted free buns.
